Steve Glorius

Glorius has been creating iron sculptures over a span of 31 years. He was born in DC and grew up in Waldorf, Maryland. After graduating from Thomas Stone High School, he began working at an iron works and steel supply company where his career began. At work, he started sculpting animals from iron scraps and gifting them to friends. He has since shifted his attention to a career as an artist working to perfect his craft using an oxygen-acetylene torch and a welding machine, “each time I try to get better and better.” His work reflects his love of the natural world. Thus, his intricate handmade sculptures depict a variety of wildlife and some fantasy creatures.

Glorius’s work has gained recognition and resides in the private collections of Billy Bob Thornton, Andrew Sabin, Christie Brinkley, and Merial Hemingway. His 600-pound “Great White Shark” sculpture was put on display at The Calvert Marine Museum at Solomons Island and his work depicting humpback whales was a part of the 2017 South Fork Natural History Museum Summer Gala later given to the highest bidder, Susan Rockefeller.
